Rigpa National Centre Sydney

'In the future the National Centre in Sydney will become very important as I want to make Australia one of our main countries, a base for Rigpa’ Sogyal Rinpoche.

The opening of Rigpa after the end of the three year retreat held in Lerab Ling, France, is a key priority to Rinpoche’s vision of bringing the authentic Buddhist teachings to as many beings as possible. On the most practical of levels we cannot do this without providing the physical environment, to make this a place that is open and inviting to draw in countless beings and to support those who have already made the connection, to give them the opportunity to find true happiness and the ultimate liberation is the goal of a Rigpa National Centre based in Sydney.

Our Vision

To establish a place in Sydney where people can discover the teachings of the Buddha, study them, contemplate and reflect on them, engage in the practice of meditation and gain some experience of the path that leads to ultimate peace, happiness and liberation. To provide the right conditions for Sogyal Rinpoche and other authentic teachers to bring the sacred dharma to beings and support Rinpoche’s wish to spend extended periods of time in Australia. To have a dedicated National Centre that the Australian sangha feels belongs to them, assist in the work of running the organization and create a foundation for the teachings to benefit the generations who will follow in the future.

How to Help

This is our opportunity to express our deep appreciation to Sogyal Rinpoche, the lineage and these priceless teaching and to do something real and tangible to help secure the future of this unbroken tradition of wisdom here in the West. Substantial support has already been given, numerous people have contributed their time and expertise and an inspiring and committed project team has manifested. There are a number of ways you can contribute.
