What Meditation Really Is Online Tutorials and Blog
Loving Kindness The first step we take away from selfishness and towards altruism, limitless compassion and our ultimate enlightenment, is to engage in the practice of loving kindness. Through this practice, we learn to love ourselves, and create the basis for loving others.
The practice of loving kindness is also a very effective way to work with emotions. Going through the different stages of the practice provides an opportunity to meet, and purify, different negative emotions which normally block our ability to love.
The Buddhist training in loving kindness also includes meditations on compassion, joy and equanimity.
Finding Peace This course offers an opportunity to learn methods of meditation that are simple, yet powerful and profound. They can be practiced by anyone at all, and they are extremely effective for bringing inner strength, peace, compassion and understanding.
The course presents a complete, essential instruction on the practice of meditation and is particularly suitable for those who are new to the Buddhist approach to meditation. Group practice, presentations by instructors, study and interaction among students are combined to offer an opportunity to experience these teachings together. Advice on how to integrate and stabilize the teachings in daily life is also shared to ensure that you receive everything you need to bring the experience and benefits of meditation fully into your life.
Ancient Wisdom for a Modern World The course offers an introduction to Buddhist ideas and approaches. Taught by the Buddha over 2,500 years ago and passed down to us by a lineage of masters who studied these words, reflected deeply on their meaning and experienced their truth personally, these principles are as useful today as they were when first spoken in the gardens and groves of India so many years ago. Their timeless applicability comes from the fact that they address the basic human desire to find happiness and are not limited to any particular social or political environment.
